The Happiness of Being Old

“The Happiness of Being Old” by David Lindsay Hall is a small but enlightening book. David, an author of unique works on the topic of writing and building characters, is trying to answer one question: “What makes a person happy?” I first read this book as a young adult and found it quite challenging.

We don’t need to be writers, nor do we need to feel confident about writing, but we can certainly use the skills we learned in school to help us when we are learning about the topic of writing or the subject of happiness.

“The Happiness of Being Old” by David Lindsay Hall is a small but enlightening book. David, an author of unique works on the topic of writing and building characters, is trying to answer one question: “What makes a person happy?” I first read this book as a young adult and found it quite challenging. I felt like the author was taking me on a fascinating ride that I just wasn’t prepared for.

We don’t need to be writers, nor do we need to feel confident about writing, but we can certainly use the skills we learned in school to help us when we are learning about the topic of writing or the subject of happiness. This book will give you a deep sense of understanding about the topic of happiness.

But the most valuable aspect of “The Happiness of Being Old” by David Lindsay Hall is the fact that he gives us an inside look at the mind of the writer. In the process of researching and writing this book, he started to understand his own feelings about the happiness and unhappiness of being old.

The author of “The Happiness of Being Old” found that it is normal to feel anxious and depressed about the state of being old. And when we are dealing with a feeling of being old, it is normal to feel like we don’t have enough energy to do things anymore. In David’s case, he found that he had too much energy was often the reason he didn’t feel fulfilled.

In the book by David Lindsay Hall, he offers hope to those who are seeking direction and enlightenment on the subject of happiness. If you are struggling with happiness, David is very honest with you and he also provides you with some amazing techniques on how to deal with unhappiness. He tells you about the power of knowing the good things about yourself.

I really enjoyed the format of “The Happiness of Being Old” by David Lindsay Hall. He uses what we often call “motivational quotes” to help get his point across.

“The Quotes” are short motivating quotes that David provides. And, even though it may not seem like you are reading motivational material because of the format, it does work.

One of the “The Quotes” from the book by David Lindsay Hall tells us, “The happy people are the ones who don’t worry about things that will happen but that will never happen.” This quote gives me hope for the future because it reminds me that I can control my future, so when I start feeling anxious, I am able to fight through the panic and make myself feel better.

Another quote that is included in “The Happiness of Being Old” by David Lindsay Hall is “Happiness isn’t measured by what we have right now, but by what we will have in the future.” I have always loved this quote because when you are dealing with a feeling of unhappiness, you want to do anything to change that feeling. And that is something that many people find hard to do.

In the book by David Lindsay Hall, he reminds us, “No matter how old you are, you can learn new things.” And, if you are looking for hope and encouragement, you should look no further than this quote. He even suggests that the average person with a “twisted perspective” may have a different perspective than we do, but we can still learn.

In the end, I learned something from “The Happiness of Being Old” by David Lindsay Hall. I learned that unhappiness doesn’t have to rule your life. We can control our thoughts and feelings and we can regain control over our own destiny.

I hope you enjoy this little book by David Lindsay Hall. This book may just be the start of a journey for you to discover new and exciting ways to live a more fulfilling life. I know I did.
